Just to follow up. Thanks for all the replies.
The bottom line is that I have a stable environment with 3.1.
I left out the multiple sessions of a network dos app and the tools
from winup7 that I run.
It seems that there is the distinct possiblity that WFW _will_ cause some new
problem to surface. Various replies have outline some of the glitches that
might need to be sorted out.
One of the difficulties is that the system in question is the one that I
use for work. I _must_ be able to pull product from a dos app database, paste
it into excel then linked to word then out winfax pro then into a dos
order entry system and track it all with Above and Beyond. The point I'm
getting to is that down time, for me, can get very expensive.
The bottom line is that I'm waiting for Chicago. I've been to a MS dog and
ponyshow recently and allthough they said that they specifically will not
promise 16 bit dos apps wil preemptivly multitask, tcp/ip and ipx will be
very well integrated in the first release.
Again thanks for all the replies.
David

Sorry to take up the bandwidth, but I can't get an e-mail message through.
Here are the answers to your questions:
* ftp.netmanage.com as v4004.exe (hidden file) in /pub/outgoing
* ftp.uu.net (same filename) in /vendors/NetManage

Subject: Conflit between Winsock and VB?
I call winsock.dll in VB. When the call recvfrom is executed,it always shows
